The Bota Hill occupies one third of The Gardens' surface area and enjoys very little horticultural attention, its vegetation is semi-wild and relatively undisturbed.
The dominant tree species are exotics invasive although these species are gradually being replaced with local and indigenous species. At the foot of this hill, a German seawall stretching 1.5m high protects The Gardens from the Atlantic Ocean. Facing the Ocean, the mangrove forest backed by the steep cliff of columnar basaltic rocks contains many important coastal tree species.
With its wild outlook this location serves as an unparalleled site for Nature walks.
