| LBZG is composed of 3 Departments, sub-divided into 5 programmes, which contribute to the institutional mission. Within these programmes, qualified teams specialise in specific fields of work.

- Research and Technical Services Department
- Botanical and Zoological Services Department
- Garden and Horticultural Services
Composed of both indigenous and non-indigenous species, and specialised ex-situ conservation collection of important native species, including; Raphia; Diospyros; Gnetum; Orchid; Cola; Timber trees, set within 48 hectares of the Gardens.
- Wildlife Services
Focuses on rescue and rehabilitation programme of endangered primate species, including chimpanzees, drills, mandrills and gorillas, offering environmental education services to the general public, and addressing wildlife conservation.
- Environmental Education and Training
Providing outreach services in support of biodiversity conservation through schools, workshops, children's clubs and special events to communicate the environmental message.
- Corporate Services
Responsible for all the administration and financial management service purchases, marketing and activities.
