This library situated in the main building of the visitors' centre in the Limbe Botanic Garden, is as old as the gardens itself. Started in 1892 under the leadership of Paul Preuss although there are no traces of how it was run at that time.
Presently, it has a stock of some 9.000 items, which are placed on open shelves. The books, journals, newsletters, reports and magazines ranges from the following subjects:

- Agriculture
- Agroforestry
- Biodiversity
- Biology
- Botany
- Conservation
- Ecology
- Horticulture
- Taxonomy
- Zoology
There is also visual and audio visual material, including slides and maps, all these as guides to sources of information. The library has its own on-line terminal to access information in a Database called "CARDBOX PLUS". Facilities are available for photocopying and reading. This library is the richest in terms of Biodiversity conservation materials in Cameroon.
