The Gardens reach out beyond its boundaries to meet the needs of the local population through educational dramas, lectures and training seminars. Visits to Schools, Colleges and Universities focus on increasing knowledge and understanding of Cameroon's unique wildlife and other conservation issues.
Environmental Education in Schools
The Gardens supports the EE activities in schools within the local community and prepare educational packages for teachers as requested. The objective is to introduce the concept of the importance of plant and animals to people, the threat they face and the need to conserve the environment as a whole into the children at an early stage "old habits die hard".
Community Sensitization
Educational work also involves local community based groups, organisation and local stakeholders including farmers and hunters. In collaboration with Conservation Technology Development Programmes (CTD); work continues to educate farmers on sustainable agricultural techniques such as the cultivation of eru and pepper. In conjunction with Regional Wildlife Education Co-ordination Committee, educational work has been carried out to sensitise the communities on the need to conserve Wildlife of the Mount Cameroon region.
