| The Research and Technical Services (RTS) intends to extend the Garden's research and technical capabilities to embrace the flora, fauna and ecosystems on Mount Cameroon and other regions, and to address the human dimension of biodiversity conservation and monitoring. The RTS provides support to all the Research and Technical Services programmes and subprogrammes including:
The department is also responsible for The Limbe Herbarium.
 
Objectives
The general objectives for this department are:
- To improve baseline information on flora and vegetation of Mount Cameroon region, determine basis for forest management, monitoring of change and provide services to other conservation projects;
- To develop marketable wildlife services related to baseline surveys, bio monitoring, geo-reference database development, dissemination of information and training;
- To develop and manage biological reference collection as a biodiversity conservation tool;
- To provide socio-economic information and services that support the better understanding of the relationship between livelihoods and forest conservation;
- To developing and implementing spatial data collection and management methods undertaking spatial analysis and generating maps and presentation;
- To develop technology for conservation, sustainable use and appreciation of indigenous plants in horticulture, medicine, food industry to reduce harvesting pressure in the wild, while improving the livelihood of local communities;
- To use locally adapted approaches to rear hunted animals and undertake bee farming to alleviate poverty in Mount Cameroon communities;
- To identify and promote improved farming practices that increases agriculture productivity and reduce the need to clear more forest.
