Irvingia gabonensis - Bush mango fruit, seeds (edible) & Leaves

As an interesting education tool, this collection demonstrates the fruits in Cameroon before the coming of the western explorers, plant collectors and plant introductors.

As a compliment to the exotic fruits collection, it enhances understanding of the origin and natural distribution of commonly grown commercial fruit crops in Cameroon.

Today, most of these fruits have as common names, the common names of exotic fruits they resemble with a prefix of 'Bush' e.g. Bush mango for Irvingia gabonensis, Bush pineapple for Myrianthus arboreus, Bush butter for Dacryodes edulis.

Cola fruit, seeds (edible) & LeavesOther fruits in this collection include

  • Spondias mangifera
  • Canarium schweinfurthii
  • Trichoscypha accuminata
