Ancistrocladus korupensis: This is how it grows in its natural environmentMost, if not all plant species have medicinal value but not all have been proven scientifically. Some have been screened for their active components and extracted to produce medications now in pharmacies. Such plants are found in this field and include Catheranthus roseus, from which came the medication for the cure of leukaemia and Cassia alata from which a pomade for skin fungi is produced.

This collection also has plants that are currently undergoing laboratory screening for potential medications in pharmaceutical laboratory such as Ancistrocladus korupensis being screened for HIV/AIDS cure. Millions of US dollars have been invested as preliminary studies proved it very successful in test-tube dishes on the virus.

Other similar plants include Tabernanthe iboga, a hallucinogen and Pausinystalia johimbe, an aphrodisiac. In this field is found some exotic common herbs used for herbal teas and obtainable in pharmacies.
