The genus Cola is one of the biggest of the plant family of the Sterculiaceae spp. It has been noted that this region has the highest number of species i.e. the Centre of Diversity for this taxon.
As a leading Botanical Gardens in this region, LBZG management has decided to have the best ex-situ collection of this taxon as a field gene bank. This is being used for scientific research work such as the revision of the Cola Monograph.
